SPACE SHUTTLE |

Alternative: Use a long paper tube and make a rocket.
|
MAKE ALIEN MASKS
Equipment: Absolutely anything
!
On a basic mask design, you may add what ever
you like. Perhaps just providing a box of bits and pieces and seeing
what your children come up with! Why not ask one lodge to creat a
nice friendly alien, another lodge to create a nasty alien etc
|
ROCKET RACE |
Thread straw onto string and stretch the string from one end of the hall to the other . Inflate balloon and clamp theend so the air does not escape whille you tape the balloon to the drinking straw. release clamp to send the rocket sailing along the string. Conduct races for both speed and distance. |
CONSTRUCTION
Equipment: Boxes and containers of various sizes textures and shapes,
meccano sets, leggo, duplo, wooden blocks etc
Just give your Joey/Beaver scouts a free hand
to construct something "Spacey" they will love it and you will be
amazed at what they create out of the various bits and pieces. Take
photos and have the Scouts tell stories about what they have
made.

FILLING IN TIME
There are plenty of things available to do
with 'space', that you may be able to use to fill in spare minutes.
For example: colouring pictures, space activity packs, hand help games,
paper models and aeroplanes

SCIENCE There are so many different experiments to suit a space theme, here's a couple of ideas --->
|
Experiment with gravity - talk about and demonstrate the pull of the Sun - ask the Beaver Scouts to pretend they are weightless and what the good and bad things might be if there was no gravity. Film Canister Rockets - using empty film containers, bi-carb soda and water ( experiment with vinigar or coke to see which ones work the best) |
