MASCOTS OF THE SYDNEY 2000 GAMES

The designer of the official mascots of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games is Matthew Hatton

There are 3 mascots , Olly , Syd and Millie .

"Olly" the Kookaburra , has a character which epitomises the Olympic spirit of generosity .
The name for Olly comes from the word Olympic and represents the element of air .

 "Syd" the Platypus , captures the vigour and energy of Australia , its people and environment
His name comes from the word Sydney and he symbolises the element of water .

 "Millie" is an Echidna , Her name comes from the word Millenium , she is a techno-whiz and information guru
She represents the future and the element of earth.

The mascot of the Paralympic games is "Lizzie" the Frill-necked lizard ,
Representing power , performance and pride. The voice of Lizzie is that of Olivia Newton-John
Lizzie was chosen as mascot of the Paralympics because of the reptile's determination and will to survive
