Game ............. "NEWSPAPER TOSS"
Have Joeys roll up a newspaper tightly then slip a rubber band over it, next have Joeys try to toss their newspaper through a hoop (aiming for a back door for example) Repeat game several times changing the position of the hoops each time.
Activity ..... "MAKING TELEVISIONS"
equipment ... Cardboard boxes
, stanley knife , plastic caps , glue , textas/paint (sponges) , pipe
cleaners , tarpaulin (mess sheet) and garbage bags (make do
smocks)
Cut screen shape from front of box with stanley knife , have Joeys colour their boxes with paint doing the front of the television first (so that it will dry faster), when painted , glue knobs on , leave to dry
Talk ...... "ABOUT TELEVISION"
What sort of shows are on television , ask Joeys to share their favourite shows and characters , why do we have news and weather shows , do the Joeys ever watch news shows , what do they think about them etc
Game ........ "TV CHARACTERS AND
PERSONALITIES"
This is good fun with the crafted televisions placed over the Joey
Scouts head pretending they are on TV.
One Joey scout leaves the room the others are told who the Joey is meant to be ( a tv personality) Joey returns asking questions to determine identity
alternative.......call one Joey aside whisper a character to them , they must mime and act as that character while the others guess the identity
alternative2....use of drawing to communicate... using the same theme of TV characters or personalities... begin to draw things which lead the Joeys to guess who the character is ie: BUGS BUNNY , draw a carrot , draw a hole , draw one long ear, a fluffy tail , draw some bugs etc
We found the Joey Scouts were very quick to pick up who the character was with the drawing version of the game. We did incorporate all 3 variations of the game into our Mob meeting
