UNIQUE RECIPE BOOK

This Mother's day craft comes from Sheila "Bubbles" K a Beaver Scout leader in Canada , while I havent tried it myself , it sounds fabulous
I have copied Sheilas email for you to read

We are making a Mother's Day Recipe Book...don't stop reading, this is a good one. The first thing you do is ask your youth members to name which is the favourite food their mom makes for them.

Sit them down to draw a picture of their Mum concocting her specialty (make sure you specify whether you want the picture portait or landscape).

While they are doing this, you and the other leaders take each child aside individually and ask them the following questions:

1. What is your favourite food that Mum makes for you?

2. What goes in it and how much?

3. How does she cook it and for how long?

4. How does she make it?

Record each of their answers word for word.
If possible, make sure you don't interview your own kids.

Here is the text for the cover page

Here's a cookbook like no others,

That we made for our dear mothers.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY 2000

All Beaver/Joey Scouts sign their name to this cover page.

The first page of the book should include this "forward":

Dear Mums,

This is a collection of the things that you make best

(according to our experts). They were asked: What is your

favourite thing that your Mum makes for you to eat? What

goes in it? How much? How do you make it? How long do

you cook it?

Their comments were duly recorded and combined with

their artistic renderings of you in the kitchen whipping up your specialty! The result is this cookbook. Enjoy.

P.S. They love you very much. You can all be very proud, they're great kids!

Happy Mother's Day 2000

With love from the 8th Surdel Beavers

The leaders type the answers into a word processor and colour photocopy or

scan and print the pictures on a colour printer. Assemble the book so that

each joey's picture and recipe face each other when the book is opened up.

Punch holes in the left side of the book and have the joey's tie a nice

ribbon bow to hold the pages together.

We are doing it on half size paper so that the costs of photocopying will be

less. Also, you will find that the kids don't actually have that much to

say. We have done the work with the kids already and so far it is

hilarious. The trick is to write down things exactly as they say when they

answer the questions.

I know the mums will love this and keep it forever.
As a mum, I sure will!
