WEEKLY PROGRAM 1
OPENING
PARADE: Break
flag, Joey Hop, Snake (Could
substitute for a conga line)
GAME: JUGGLING JOEY'S
Equipment: bean bags
Joeys in pairs with one beanbag for each Joey Scout, simultaneously throw their bean bag for partner to catch. Try sitting, standing, walking etc while throwing to each other.
ACTIVITY:
PAPER CLOWNS
Equipment
: Butchers paper,
magazines, glue, paint, news paper, scissors , textas, scraps of brightly
coloured fabric
Cut
Joey length sheets of paper , one Joey lays down on the paper while another
draws around the outline of their body , then they
reverse roles . When each Joey Scout has an outline of their body , they
then proceed to decorate it to look like a circus clown .
GAME: ELEPHANT ACT
Equipment: A very very long rope stretched in a circle around the hall.
Joey Scouts form a line the 1st tries to balance along the rope while everyone sings
'One grey elephant balancing , step by
step on a piece of string
He thought it was such a wonderful stunt , that he called for another
elephant'
The first Joey Scout will then point to a
2nd Joey who joins in by holding hands with the first and so on, this
time there would be 'two grey elephants balancing step by step on a
piece of string' etc soon you will have a giant line of grey
elephants balancing on a piece of string which once they have all
joined MUST surely break !!! The Joey Scouts crash dramatically to
the floor. More than one Joey Scout at a time can be called up to
join the balancing act.
GAME: SIDE SHOW ALLEY
Equipment: painted box and bean bags
Joey Scouts form a long line in front of the box the object is to throw the bean bags into the open mouth of the animal painted on the box.
GAME: GOING TO THE CIRCUS
Joeys sit in a circle. Play begins by one person saying "I'M GOING TO THE CIRCUS AND I'M GOING TO TAKE.......(here the Joey chooses an object to take to the circus with them for example ).
AN UMBRELLA." The next person says "I'M GOING TO THE CIRCUS AND I'M GOING TO TAKE... AN UMBRELLA AND SOME MONEY "
The next person says " I'M GOING TO THE CIRCUS AND I'M GOING TO TAKE ...AN UMBRELLA , SOME MONEY AND A DRINK " and so on .
If the message is retold incorrectly
everyone can help the person remember by giving hints.
