MORE INFORMATION
The Scout Association is made up of 5 youth Sections run by trained leaders and supported by an administrative structure around each State of Australia and in countries all over the world. The aim of the Association is to encourage the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual development of young people so that they may take a constructive place in society as responsible citizens, and as members of their local, national, and international communities.

The principles of Scouting, identified by the Founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell
Joey Scouts provide the child with and introduction into the World Wide Family of Scouting , and on turning 8 the Joey Scout is eligible to "Go up" or "Link" in to a Cub Scout Pack .
Your child will attend between 4 and 6 mob meetings before he/she makeS the decision and commitment to become a member of the Mob . These meetings may be just prior to the childs 6th birthday .
Once the decision has been made , the child is invested into the mob and the Scouting organisation , with a simple ceremony to which parents/ grandparents and special friends are invited to attend . We encourage extended family participation at this important event .
All members of the Association make a promise when becoming members including Leaders .
As with all Sections of the Association , the Joey Scout Section has a Law to expand their understanding of the commitment .
A Joey Scout is not only encouraged to help other Joey Scouts during mob meetings , but also be helpful outside Mob meeting times .
There is no requirement for Joey Scouts to wear a uniform , but they do wear a Group scarf with a special Joey Scout woggle . These are presented at the investiture ceremony . An optional Joey Scout tshirt is available and some Mobs may wear their Group tshirt or Scout cap. There is also a special Joey Scout badge which is shown on some of these pages , sometimes this is presented by the Joey Scout Leader at the childs investiture ceremony , (this is an individual Group policy ), or alternatively , the badge may be purchased to be sewn onto a windcheater along with other special event badges .
There are a series of Joey Scout participation certificates which are presented for attending weekly Mob meetings and participating in organised outings , there are also special certificates given to reward good manners , sportsmanship etc These are not based on awards but solely on attendance of meetings and participation in Mob outings .
There are a total of 9 certificates , which are presented to the Joey Scout as the participation levels are completed . These are attractive for the Joey Scout to keep and remember his/her time in Joey Scouting .
