Plate of feathers race
Equipment ....... paper plates with approx 4 feathers per plate
Joeys form teams and race to opposite team member while carrying a plate of feathers... feathers must be on the plate at the change over and end of race
Feed the Chicks
Equipment.......... draw a nest with chalk or have Joeys constuct a nest using cloth or whatever you have handy . Food we used were twisted newspaper and sticks to represent snakes and lizards also rolled up newspaper balls for rodents , a few plastic bugs ( anything will do )
Divide Joeys into teams each team has a nest in one corner of the hall
In the middle have Kookaburra food
Joeys race from their nests take a piece of food and run it back to their nest , allowing the next Joey to gather a piece of Kookaburra food to feed their hungry chicks........Have a bird of prey trying to prevent Joeys from feeding their chicks ....bird of prey tags Joey with a scarf (wing) ...... if tagged must return the food to the centre and run back to tag the next team mate
Fill the nest
Equipment ..... as for previous game 'Feed the Chicks '
Scatter Kookaburra food throughout the hall........
Have a central nest with a Joey or leader standing inside.....
Joeys must run to gather as much food as possible and place in the nest , the person in the nest needs to throw the food out as quickly as possible
Game ends when the gatherers have successfully filled the nest with Kookaburra food
